What It's All About

Above all, this will be a site dedicated to Tarot--as an art form, as divination, as a key to unlocking mysteries of the mind, body and soul. It is a gift of knowledge and inspiration in my life, and this is a forum where I will share that gift.
The poem below my Blog title came from consulting the Tarot. I asked how to best describe my new blog and drew the Knight of Swords, the 4 of Cups and The World. Using the imagery of each card, I then created a line of poetry.

I invite you to share your thoughts and to also submit any questions you may have. I will try to answer at least one tarot question each week using 3 cards.
Enjoy!

So....What's it all about? This is not a political blog, by any means, but the current political environment in the U.S. has become a telescope of sorts; because it's difficult to escape the social noise, I am using it to peer more deeply into the bigger issues lurking inside of me. Thank you, George Bush, for at least giving me the desire to dissect.

I'm finding it difficult to keep my rage in check. Our political and ideological polarity has never been so fiercely obvious to me (born in the midst of Vietnam, thus missing the opportunity to consciously absorb that whole rift). How can someone actually believe in the Republican party in these times, let alone admit they are going to continue their embarrassing reign by voting for McCain/Palin?? They are a party who believe in profit over people, who make most decisions to benefit the super-rich, and who obviously have driven the U.S. over a cliff, making us all seem like greedy, lying, murderous barbarians to the rest of the world (what good Christians, yes?). My version of democracy does not include 'bringing it' to people 10,000 miles away using tanks and guns.
But I do digress....this is a blog about what lies inside each of us--about our struggle as individuals and as a society to evolve into the greatest beings possible. The politicians have provided me with a great spring-board.

I read the following last night:

"God and the Universe are the Ego and Body of the Grand Man, or Macrocosm; and finite man, or the microcosm, is a miniature copy of the Grand Man, corresponding to Him in all details."
-The Sacred Tarot, p. 28

This is an expansion of the Hemetic axiom, "As above, so below", and the implications are astounding. If you take a moment to view God and your own ego as interchangeable, suddenly God becomes so much more complex and interesting simply because s/he is now prone to selfishness, laziness and all sorts of devious scheming.
On the flip side, you become so much MORE--no longer are you merely a little person in the position to strive so damn hard to be 'good', or to feel so guilty about not being 'good', or to argue so much about what you deem 'good'. Instead, you become synonomous with God: You with all of your good, bad, ugly, and beautiful. In this view, everything is contained inside of you. Suddenly all of the 'bad', is part of you/God, and not some skulking evil entity you must avoid or destroy. In other words, all polarities are contained inside of you.

That's a hard concept to absorb. If we contain all polarities inside of us, why do we seek to attach ourselves to one way of thinking and so vehemently oppose the other side? If we contain all polarities inside, where does that leave us? Arguing with ourselves.

I'll be chewing on that more, I'm sure.
